Black Ops: Cold War- Multiplayer
This week I am going to piggyback on last week's article with a similar topic. I am going to be going over my opinions on the multiplayer side of Black Ops: Cold War.
Black Ops is a title that has been used in many different Call of Duty games, the most recent being Cold War. With some great, and others mediocre at best, Cold War finds itself mid-tier in the multiplayer department for me. The movement and overall graphics of the game are solid, yet it is lacking in gameplay.
Pros:
Overall, good graphics- especially with the next-gen consoles
Solid movement control and feel
Most maps are great
Cons:
Lack of map content- only 10 total for all modes, with a few added later
Overall gameplay running either too slow or too fast
SBMM.
What is SBMM? Skill Based Match Making might be the worst part of multiplayer in Cold War. On paper it sounds good, placing good players with other equal level players, and the same with bad players. In reality, it creates very competitive, and overall not fun experiences in a casual mode. I believe that Activision (the main game developer for this game) should take out SBMM, and leave it only in the ranked league mode.
Overall, I believe that Black Ops: Cold War is a great game. Featuring an amazing zombies mode, a short but very fun and historically relevant campaign mode, multiplayer is probably its worst field. I think with some tweaks to the SBMM system, this game can compete with other Call of Duty games for being one of the best.
